Wintercity Festival

Toronto abounds with festivals and if you are a tourist who loves to be around festivities then this is the place for you. The Wintercity Festival of Toronto is one of the most well known festivals of its kind. This is a festival that celebrates several delicious culinary offerings of this Canadian city. There is also a large variety of entertaining events that can be enjoyed for free. This is one festival that also showcases the city's ever animated art scene and there is live music and dance taking place everywhere. There are theaters, rink concerts, and aerobic performances all under the same banner so to speak. This festival draws huge crowds from far and near and also from local regions. This seems to be the perfect festival for the family.

The Wintercity Festival of Toronto came into being a few years back and was initially called the WinterFest. This took place over just one weekend, and currently it runs for a couple of weekends. This fantastic festival takes place in the Nathan Phillips Square usually from the last week of January to the first and second week of the next month. This festival usually commences from 27th Jan to the 9th of February. This festival includes WOW or the Wild on Winter Series. This is an event and very much a part of festival that combines some of the best performances held in Toronto. There is a couple of fantastic outdoor events held that go by the names of "Walk the Plank" and "Il Corso". WOW! Usually takes place on Saturday and Sundays of both the weekends. This event features some of the best and most fantastic pyrotechnic as well as special effects and sound displays seen anywhere in North America. Canadian talents put up fantastic shows of live music and dance. Then there is the Warm-up Series offering people many greatly discounted events that are held at some of the city's most sought after locations. The Warm Up Series also offers fantastic interactive enjoyment at the Toronto Eaton Centre in and around several venues in Toronto.

There are many interesting events that take place and these include Spin Cycle, Silk Road Acrobats comprising of a trio of acrobatic and hula hoop acts. The Silk Road Acrobats at times comprise of a seven man acrobat team and there is also a female contortion duo present in the mix. Then there is the High Strung Aerial Acrobats "Dy-no-mite that comprises of a female duo who put up a high energy show with a touch of disco. Events also include the very popular WinterCity Weekend SeeSaw that is held at the Lorraine Kimsa Theatre for Young People and DJ Skating nights to name a few. The event also offers free hot chocolate, skating rentals, as well as snacks for all who check it out.
