The Spinning Wheel Art and Literature Competition

SWFF 2006 is proud to announce the inaugural Spinning Wheel Art and Literature This competition was initiated to encourage artists to create works that touch on the Sikh experience, and to inspire a new generation of Sikhs to pursue careers in the arts.  Entries for the competition came in from England, the United States and from Canada. 

We wish to thank all the participants for being a part of  this competition, and for making it a success!  We encourage all up and coming artists to submit their entries for SWFF 2007!

Art Competition

Congratulations to Co-winners Jaipreet Singh and Gurpreet Kaur for the Art competition.  Honourable mentions goes to Navjeet Chhina, Kanwar Dhillon, Gurleen Kaur Rai and Harneet Kaur for the Art Competition.

Judges for the art competition were Lally Marwah, Sophie Hawkins, and Pamila Matharu.

Literature Competition

Congratulations to 1st Prize winner Rajvinder Kaur Pabla for the Literature competition and to Ajinderjeet Kaur Vaid, and Sarab Singh for second prize.

Judges for the literature competition were Amardeep Singh, Priscila Uppal, Jaspreet Singh, Jasvinder Kaur, and Balbinder Bhogal

Silent Auction

Along with Amrit and Rabindra Singh’s “All Hands on Deck” available for silent auction, many of the submissions from the Spinning Wheel Art Competition will be also be available for bidding -including the winning entries!  The Silent Auction will be open throughout the Festival weekend and winning bids will be announced before the closing film on Sunday!
